A Letter from the Chief

Hello, Hopkins Community!

My name is Chris Ward, and it is an honor to serve as your Fire Chief.

I would like to take a moment and welcome you to our department’s website.

Just a little information about the department. Hopkins is a single station and a 24 hour combination department (full-time, part-time and volunteer staff). We currently have 13 full-time employees, 8 part-time employees, and 25 volunteer members. Our department runs around 700 calls a year, that includes both fire and EMS calls. Hopkins operates in Wake and Franklin County. Our department has been apart of the community since 1977, and we will continue to be here for many more years to come.

Our website has something for everyone from our department history, current equipment, fire safety information for your home and safety tips for both adults and children.  We have tried to make this the best website not just for the fire service community, but for our friends, family, and neighbors.

The fine group of dedicated men and women that make up our members are just like you: Everyday Folks.

We are always looking for more “Everyday Folks” who are willing to dedicate some of their time to serve the community. Not every member has to fight fires to be an important part of our team. If you are interested in joining or getting information about joining, I would be more than willing to talk with you.

Please enjoy your time on our website.

If you have any questions or comments about this site/department, please feel free to email me at cward@hopkinsfire.com.

Thank you

Chris Ward
